In the United States, Bayer announced another step in the introduction of the Preceon corn system. The system will be launched globally in the coming years, according to information from the company.

The system is made up of three complementary components that, applied together, help farmers better manage risk and increase opportunities to help protect their yield and profitability potential:

• Short stature corn hybrids - are the basis of the Preceon smart corn system. This innovation is designed to provide: (a) protection against crop yield loss due to high winds and challenging weather conditions; (b) access to apply products throughout the cultivation; (c) income potential through greater opportunity for input optimization.

• FieldView digital analysis - helps farmers maximize results with personalized field placement and seeding rate recommendations. Farmers can receive advanced variable seeding rate prescriptions by sharing their field boundaries, target yields per field and two years of historical yield data within the FieldView platform.

• Personalized support from Bayer and resellers - will provide farmers with reliable support to maximize the system. The exclusive group of farmers in the "Ground Breakers 2023" field trial program will receive personalized, hands-on service as well as regional agronomic recommendations and best practices.

“This is one of the most important and exciting launches we have ever had at Bayer,” said Jacqueline Applegate, president of Bayer Crop Science North America.

Bayer is expanding testing of the Preceon corn system in 2023 to more than 30 acres. The information provided by more than 280 participating farmers will improve the system. Bayer expects to have a targeted commercial introduction in the US in 2024.

At the end of the matter that the Cultivar Magazine recently published, it is possible to watch a video about the development of short-stature corn in Brazil.
