Researchers warn against the indiscriminate use of insecticides
Safety is a non-negotiable value for BASF. The company works to promote and publicize the correct use and handling of its products. In Rio Grande do Sul, BASF has been carrying out actions aimed at good practices in the use of hormonal herbicides. These technologies require attention to weather conditions (temperature, humidity and wind) and spraying equipment.
In this sense, through a Technical Cooperation Agreement signed between BASF and Emater/RS-ASCAR, around 50 rural extension agents from Emater/RS-ASCAR were trained in good agricultural spraying practices. The training concluded with practical classes held on December 02nd on the campus of the Federal University of Santa Maria.
Another recent initiative by the company was holding an online event open to the public to address the latest updates to the Normative Instructions (IN) of the Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock and Rural Development (SEAPDR) of Rio Grande do Sul. The panel, Hormonal herbicides: update on guided sales standards and application, with the participation of experts on the topic. The content is available on the FonteAgro on Youtube.
BASF follows the recommendations of the Normative Instructions published by SEAPDR. In recent years, the company has carried out a series of awareness and training actions to disseminate the correct use of technologies in Rio Grande do Sul. BASF has also distributed educational leaflets to reinforce application recommendations for hormonal herbicides. In-person training and online broadcasts were also carried out covering content focusing on good practices and application technology.
“BASF takes its commitment to the correct and safe use of technologies used in crops very seriously. Our products are accompanied by good practice and training programs based, for example, on raising awareness among distribution channels and farmers, for the responsible and sustainable use of agricultural pesticides”, says the Specialties Regulatory Affairs Manager of the Agricultural Solutions Division from BASF, Alexandre Bos.
BASF strictly follows global, regional and local regulations and is committed to good agricultural practices and crop sustainability. Sustainability can also be seen in the global investment of approximately 1 billion euros per year in research and development of increasingly modern solutions aligned with the needs of farmers.
