Basf's entrepreneurship platform, AgroStart, has extended registrations for its new acceleration class. For those who want to undertake an agricultural business with startups in the early stages or more mature, you have until September 30th to sign up for the program. The initiative is aimed at entrepreneurs across Latin America.

“On the AgroStart platform, it is possible for everyone to learn, innovate and contribute to the emergence of new solutions. We consider support for startups and partnerships with companies, accelerators and funds to be essential for us to bring differentiated solutions to farmers,” commented Eduardo Menezes, Digital Products Manager at Basf's Agricultural Solutions Division in Latin America.

To register for AgroStart, interested parties must meet certain criteria. The first is to present proposals that increase the competitiveness of agribusiness and assist the agricultural chain in at least one of the following challenges: diagnosis of pests and diseases, management of the productivity gap (yield gap), efficient monitoring of crops, management of pesticide application, Supply Chain and Logistics and financial operations (AgFinTechs).

Another prerequisite is to already have a product being validated in the market in an initial or advanced phase. The program serves startups in the early stages and has benefits and partnerships for startups that are already on a larger scale. Some of the main benefits of being part of AgroStart are:

A pioneer in Latin America, AgroStart has already received applications from more than 500 startups since its creation in 2016. It began as just an acceleration program, but today it encompasses other aspects, such as Garagem, aimed at Basf employees who want to undertake, and Ecossistema, an arm of the platform that establishes partnerships with large companies - currently including Samsung, Bosch and Banco do Brasil.

“AgroStart is a project that was born just 4 years ago, but it already has several achievements. Through the partnerships signed, we further reinforce the message that BASF is a company that cares about bringing value to farmers with increasingly intelligent and digitalized solutions, facilitating and optimizing their productions", said Almir Araújo, Head of Digital Agriculture of BASF in Latin America.
