Brazilian companies impacted by tariff measures imposed by the United States government can now apply for credit under the Brazil Sovereign Plan. The protocol was released today (September 18) by the Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES). A total of R$9 billion is available, of which R$40 billion comes from the Export Guarantee Fund (FGE) and R$30 billion from the Bank itself.
Interested companies should check their eligibility on the BNDES website (www.bndes.gov.br/elegibilidade-brasil-soberano). After authentication using the GOV.BR platform, the system will inform whether the company is eligible and which Plano Brasil Soberano solutions can be requested.
According to BNDES, the resources will finance working capital and investments in adapting production activities, acquiring machinery and equipment, and seeking new markets.
Legal entities of all sizes are entitled to FGE resources if their revenue from exports to the United States of goods impacted by additional tariffs and included in the product table published by the Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services (MIDC) on the official website, in the period from July 2024 to June 2025, is greater than or equal to 5% of their total gross revenue recorded in the same period.
There are four lines available: Working Capital (general operating expenses), Diversification Turnover (search for new markets), Capital Goods (acquisition of machinery and equipment) and Investments (technological innovation, adaptation of the productive activity of products, services and processes, and densification of the production chain).
Regarding BNDES credit, companies whose products received any percentage of tariffs and with any level of impact on gross revenue are eligible. Two lines of credit are available: Emergency Working Capital (financing general operating expenses) and Diversification Working Capital (pursuing new markets).
