BB Seguros has expanded the coverage of its Agricultural Flex insurance. The product, which is customizable and offers broad coverage for various crops, now also offers protection against hail as basic coverage for temperate climate fruit crops and vegetables, such as wine grapes, table grapes, apples, pears, persimmons, figs , peach, nectarine, plum, garlic and onion.
“The expansion of Agricultural Flex insurance for fruits and vegetables is of paramount importance, considering that these products play an essential role in feeding the population and have a high strategic value in the market, especially domestic”, comments Amauri Vasconcelos, president of Brasilseg, a company BB Seguros.
The new coverage brings some specificities for grapes, garlic and onion.
In the case of wine grapes and table grapes, Agrícola Flex insurance protects production against damage caused to the shoots that will give rise to the fruits of the production cycle for which the insurance was contracted, as long as it is exclusively caused by hail.
In the case of onions and garlic, the basic protection is for damage caused by hail to the vegetable bulbs, also considering loss of plant stand and leaf area. There is also the possibility of purchasing additional coverage to protect the onion bulbs during curing periods.
Another new feature is basic coverage to recover the productive potential of developing coffee plants. Therefore, in addition to multi-risk coverage that compensates for loss of production, the farmer can choose to protect only the coffee plant in the non-productive phase against risks that damage its structure, providing resources, based on compensation, for management and recovery of its potential. productive.
The new coverage for the fruit and vegetable segment is valid in any of the three Flex Agricultural Insurance plans and is only available in the South, Southeast regions and in the state of Goiás. At first, only account holders with a credit operation financed by the Bank of Brazil will have access to the offer.
