BASF will be present at the 14th edition of the Brazilian Cotton Congress, highlighting some new products. Among them is the long-residue insecticide for controlling cotton aphids, Vinquo. Formulated with the active ingredient Inscalis (Aphidopyropene), this product acts on insects that have sucking feeding habits, in addition to having contact action and translaminar movement on the applied leaves, that is, when the product passes from one side of the leaf to the other. The event continues until Thursday (5), in Fortaleza (CE).
Rodrigo Burci (in the video), marketing manager for Cotton and Beans in Brazil at BASF, highlights that Vinquo is part of a new class of insecticides, which is a differentiator, since it does not have any type of resistance. “We are very happy with the sales of this product. For the first year, we have already exceeded sales expectations, we are in high demand, and producers are seeing value in the product. Aphids are a pest that bothers people and has its peaks, and we needed a product to control them, and Vinquo is here to do that,” he says.
According to Burci, the product works by interrupting the insects' feeding and reproduction, leading them to death by starvation. "Aphids have this habit of spending time under the leaf, which is why it is so important to have a product with translaminar action, which acts on both sides of the leaf," he adds.
Another new product from BASF is the Seletio System, a complete combination for managing narrow-leaf weeds, such as goosegrass and bittergrass, and some broad-leaf weeds, such as pigweed, which are difficult to control with conventional herbicides. It integrates triple herbicide protection (Glyphosate, Liberty and the new Durance S), offering selectivity, long residual control and flexibility.
For the FiberMax portfolio, BASF is launching new varieties that feature, in addition to Seletio TP (TwinLink Plus) technology, multiple resistance to root-knot nematodes and rotilenchus, the latter being an innovation. Resistance to ramularia I and II is also present in the varieties.
