Mata Viva Program: BASF will plant 200 tree seedlings

During Expoforest 2023, BASF invited visitors to participate in a sustainability campaign. Reinforcing its commitment to an increasingly sustainable journey inside and outside the production chain, the company committed to planting tree seedlings for each photo taken at its stand at the fair. 

In total, 200 seedlings will be planted by the company, in partnership with the ECO+ Foundation, established and maintained by BASF, which manages the Mata Viva program. Started in 1984, the program has already contributed to the planting of more than 1,4 million seedlings, restoring more than 850 hectares. 

According to the press release, in 2023, a native tree seed network is being structured together with different partners. The idea is to show how forest restoration brings environmental and social benefits. The seedlings will be planted in the areas of family farmers, participants in the seed network. Furthermore, part of the seedlings that will be used in planting will already be produced with seeds from the network.
