In August, sales of agricultural machinery increased significantly in relation to July, totaling 5.054 units sold, representing a growth of 23,3%. However, the general panorama over the first eight months of 2023 reveals a challenging scenario for manufacturers, with a total of 38.611 units sold, a drop of 9,9% compared to the 42.842 machines sold in the same period of the previous year, according to data from the National Association of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (Anfavea). Given this context, one of the key strategies to stimulate increased sales is investment in technology.
Manufacturers recognized the importance of offering more advanced products, which leave the production line already equipped with technologies aimed at precision agriculture and connectivity features for continuous monitoring. This growing use of technological resources has a direct impact on increasing productivity in agricultural operations, which is the primary objective of producers, as noted by Marcio Blau, Sales Manager at Hexagon, a company specialized in developing technological solutions for the agricultural sector.
To meet this demand, technology providers are focused on developing and improving features that make agricultural machinery more attractive. One of the most requested features is the autopilot, which allows farmers to optimize the use of resources in the field, reduce the repetition of trajectories and minimize soil compaction. "An example of this is the HxGN AgrOn Autopilot, which is versatile enough to adapt to most tractors available on the market, has electric or hydraulic drive systems, is compatible with pre-arranged machines and offers uncomplicated installation and integration", he explains. Márcio.
According to the Sales Manager, prioritizing productivity and reducing operational costs are always at the heart of producers' concerns, and it is essential that manufacturers value these aspects to boost sales. He adds that "Farmers are constantly looking for ways to reduce expenses and increase production. By incorporating autopilot technology into their agricultural machinery and effectively communicating its benefits, manufacturers can satisfy farmers' needs for more efficient machines and , while also strengthening lasting relationships with its customers by demonstrating an ongoing commitment to innovation and solid technical support.”
Furthermore, a growing concern among producers is the adoption of sustainable practices in their field operations. In this context, technology plays a fundamental role. The implementation of autopilot systems and the use of advanced sensors in machines enable precise resource management, reducing waste of inputs such as water, fertilizers and pesticides.
"Additionally, real-time data collection and analysis can help farmers make informed decisions that benefit the environment while improving the efficiency of agricultural operations. Manufacturers who highlight these benefits and demonstrate commitment to sustainability are well positioned to meet the growing demand for more environmentally friendly agricultural practices", concludes Marcio.
