Even in the face of the low availability of wheat grain and the strong demand for bran, domestic prices for the cereal are falling at the end of August. According to Cepea employees, the pressure comes from the proximity of the beginning of the harvest in the country – activities should begin in September.

Thus, mill agents wait for wheat from the new harvest to enter the national spot to resume business involving larger volumes. Furthermore, even with the frosts and the water deficit in the crops, the production of this harvest could be a record, which generates expectations of lower prices.

Another factor that also influences the weakening of domestic prices is the devaluation of the dollar against the Real, considering that this scenario makes imported cereal more attractive.
