For 2019, the Brazilian coffee harvest is estimated at 50,92 million bags, of which 36,98 million are Arabica coffee and 13,93 million bags are conilon. In relation to production areas, Arabica coffees currently occupy the equivalent of 1,47 million hectares, and the conilon species 373,22 thousand hectares, which corresponds, respectively, to 0,57% and 0,14% of the area explored with agricultural activities in the national territory, totaling 256,8 million hectares. Brazilian coffee farming, which includes Arabica and conilon species, uses 1,84 million hectares of area in production this year, a number that represents just 0,71% of the area explored for agricultural activities in our country.

In the context of world coffee production, if the percentage share of Brazilian Coffee production is determined, in comparison with global production, using only data from the last five harvests, it can be seen that Brazil has remained the world's largest producer. of coffee, with a physical volume – on average – around 1/3 of world production. As an example, in the 2018 harvest, the country produced 61,66 million bags, a volume that corresponded to approximately 37% of the planet's production, in an area of 1,86 million hectares. Subsequently, in 2017, whose production area was 1,91 million hectares, the Brazilian Coffee harvest had a volume of 44,97 million bags, which was responsible for 27% of global production.

Continuing this comparative analysis, in 2016, the Brazilian coffee harvest was produced in an area of 1,95 million hectares and harvested 51,37 million bags, which represented 33% of the planet's production. In the previous year, in 2015, our country harvested 43,24 million bags – an area of 1,92 million hectares – and participated with 28% of world production. Finally, in 2014, Brazilian Coffee production reached 45,34 million bags – an area of 1,95 million hectares –, which corresponded to 30,2% of the global volume. Thus, despite the area under production of Brazilian coffee having remained relatively stable, in the five harvests now under analysis, on average 1,90 million hectares, our country remains the world's largest coffee producer, without expansion of production area.

Data and analysis of the production of Cafés do Brasil with the respective production areas were obtained from CAFÉ EXECUTIVE SUMMARY – JUNE 2019, published and disseminated by the Secretariat of Agricultural Policy – SPA, the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply – Mapa, and also the Coffee Harvest Survey, from the National Supply Company – Conab.
