Wheat prices remain firm in Brazil
Field activities are coming to an end, but prices remain firm
You Arabica coffee prices are experiencing another month of strong growth. From October 29th on November 23rd, the CEPEA/ESALQ Indicator type 6, placed in the capital of São Paulo, already had a significant increase of 179,39 Reais/bag of 60 kg (or +14,3%), closing the R$ 1.435,66/60 kg bag this Tuesday, 23rd. This is a new level nominal maximum of the Cepea historical series, started in 1996.
It should be noted that, in real terms, the record is R$ 2.315,55/sc, registered on May 28 1997 (values were deflated by the IGP-DI). According to researchers from Cepea, the increase is linked to increases in external values.
In addition to climate-related concerns, logistical obstacles faced across the globe continue to make it difficult to sell coffee. In Brazil, they begin to increase concerns about the setting of flowering for the 2022/23 harvest.
Agents consulted by Cepea indicate that flowers have been aborted in part of the coffee plantations hit by frost and/or drought.
