Growth in Santa Catarina’s soybean harvest
Cultivation area was increased to 730,6 thousand hectares and State production reached 2,74 million tons
Technicians from the National Supply Company (Conab) are carrying out another research project this week that will direct the calculations of production costs. The research takes place in Bahia and the products chosen this time were garlic, in the municipality of Cristópolis, and Arabica coffee, in Luís Eduardo Magalhães.
In the case of the municipality of Cristópolis, the choice was made due to the number of contracts from the National Program for Strengthening Family Agriculture (Pronaf). Arabica coffee, in Luís Eduardo Magalhães, comes from corporate agriculture and, in this case, the selection criterion was based on the volume of production and its importance for the Northeast Region, in the context of coffee production.
The work of collecting data for the cost of production relies on the contribution of various segments that make up the production process, such as producers, technical assistance, input resellers and technicians from research bodies. Technical coefficients and prices of fertilizers, pesticides, labor and agricultural machinery are some of the items researched by Conab teams.
The production cost is a tool for controlling and managing production activities. Through it, information is generated to assist in decision-making by rural producers and in the formulation of strategies by the public and private sector.
The data is also used by the Federal Government as one of the main parameters in the preparation of minimum prices and in the calculation of guarantee values used as a reference for the Price Guarantee Program for Family Farming (PGPAF). In addition, they serve as a reference for calculations when obtaining credit through Financing for the Storage of Agricultural Products (FEE) and the Minimum Price Guarantee Policy (PGPM).
