The Arabica harvest for the 2021/22 harvest effectively began in most of Brazil's fields in recent days. Cepea researchers indicate that the work is still in its infancy, due to the large quantity of green grains, but should gradually gain strength in the coming weeks, with the harvest peak expected for mid-June and early July.
Despite the start of activities – when coffee prices are usually pressured by the supply of the new crop – domestic Arabica values have increased in May, especially in the last few days.
On Tuesday, May 26th, the CEPEA/ESALQ Indicator for Arabica type 6, posted in the capital of São Paulo, closed at R$ 825,11/sc, a strong increase of 5,4% compared to April 30th. In this case, support comes especially from the retraction of sellers in the country and the advance of variety futures on the New York Stock Exchange (ICE Futures).
