​Registration for Postgraduate Studies in Tropical and Subtropical Agriculture IAC is due until November 22nd

The Agronomic Institute (IAC) is open for registration for the "strictu sensu" Postgraduate Master's course in Tropical and Subtropical Agriculture IAC, from October 12th to November 22nd, 2020. Registration can be done via link. The names of those approved and supervisors will be published until December 10th on the IAC website, of the Secretariat of Agriculture and Supply of the State of São Paulo. Classes will start in the 1st semester of 2021. The course lasts two years. This year, for the first time since 1999, the selection process will be carried out virtually.

"We believe that this model can benefit interested parties who are outside the state or even those who are in other countries", says Gabriel Constantino Blain, coordinator of the IAC Postgraduate Program, at the São Paulo Agribusiness Technology Agency (APTA).

Interested parties can consult the list of required documentation and all information about the selection process on the IAC website, including the recommended literature for the areas of concentration: Agro-environmental Resource Management, Genetics, Plant Improvement and Biotechnology and Agricultural Production Technology.

Agronomists, agricultural engineers, biologists and other professionals with university degrees interested in developing activities related to agricultural sciences can apply.

Accredited by the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES), the Postgraduate course in Tropical and Subtropical Agriculture at the Agronomic Institute aims to train researchers, teachers and professionals specialized in master's and doctoral programs. The IAC Postgraduate Program seeks to offer training focused on applied research, with the generation of specific technology for each crop or for each line of research in the universe of tropical and subtropical agriculture.

Since 1999, more than 460 Master's dissertations have been defended. The Doctorate course began in 2009, totaling 76 theses defended. Blain explains that in total there are 30 researchers who act as advisors. "Depending on the candidates' performance, the supervisor selects more than one master's student", he explains.

PG-IAC students receive scholarships from funders such as CAPES, the São Paulo State Research Support Foundation (FAPESP), the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) and the private sector.
