The Agroclimatic Monitoring and Alerts System (Simagro-RS) of the Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock and Rural Development (SEAPDR) can now be accessed via email http://www.simagro.rs.gov.br/. It aims at climate monitoring in Rio Grande do Sul, with the development of products and information to enable planning and act as support for short, medium and long-term measures in the agricultural sector of Rio Grande do Sul. The information is also available on Instagram (@simagrors).
There are 20 new automatic meteorological stations installed to expand the existing sensor network in the State, used in agroclimatic monitoring and also to monitor the occurrence of drift of hormonal herbicide products. Simagro-RS also has weather and climate models, where agrometeorological products are generated for all 497 municipalities in Rio Grande do Sul.
On the page, the System provides products generated by two meteorological models, with resolutions of 25 and 3 kilometers, respectively. The regional model, with a resolution of 3 kilometers and prediction of agroclimatic indices for a horizon of five days; and the global model, with a resolution of 25 kilometers, which provides forecasts for a scenario of up to 15 days.
According to the meteorologist and coordinator of Simagro-RS, Flávio Varone, it is an innovative system that generates agro-climatic indices to support and favor the planning of activities of producers in Rio Grande do Sul. “Simagro today provides an extremely important service for the agricultural sector in Rio Grande do Sul”, he highlights.
According to Varone, there are several indices generated, among which the 2,4-D index stands out, where the producer can plan the best time to apply the product. “Hourly forecasts of up to five days are generated for all municipalities in the State. And the occurrence rate in soybeans also stands out, where the producer can check whether or not there is a possibility of rust occurring in his region and, consequently, in his crop”, he explains.
