Workshop encourages cooperation in RD&I and the productive sector for the sugarcane chain

For the second year in a row, the event broke a visitation record and received more than 3 thousand visitors, who were at the Agristar do Brasil demonstration field between the 26th and 28th of June during the Open Field Day, held simultaneously with Hortitec, the largest trade fair. horticulture in Latin America. More than 190 varieties were on display at the time, including commercial, pre-commercial and testing products, in almost 8.820 m² of open field crops, around 1.700 m² of greenhouses, and hydroponics.
Agristar do Brasil develops and sells vegetable, fruit and herb seeds and this year brought 13 new material options for producers in the sector. The Topseed Premium line included 11 new varieties: Samira curly lettuce, Veloster arugula, Firenze eggplant, Akira Chinese cabbage, Rochedo, Riverside and Brutus hybrid watermelons, Iguazu peppers, Excalibur onion, Guerrero cucumber and Robledo melon; and completing the Superseed portfolio are the Dynamo tomato cultivars and Katsu Chinese cabbage.
In addition to visiting the company's stands at Hortitec, in Holambra (SP), visitors also had the opportunity to see during the event the high-tech varieties developed to meet the diverse needs of producers, who are always looking for better adapted products. to your reality, be it climate or disease pressure, or to meet market demands for better post-harvest, different flavors and formats. Furthermore, the tour was enriched by the exchange of information with experts and technicians from all over Brazil, who were available to talk about the characteristics of the materials, the best handling and positions for each region of the country.
Producer Victor de Souza Almeida, from Campo Grande (MS), works with the cultivation of peppers and mini tomatoes and also provides technical assistance to other farmers in the region. “I always come to the Agristar field day to learn about the new features that are being launched, the different features added and all the technology involved. There’s always something interesting for us to try in our region.”
Eduardo Gavioli, from Taquaritinga (SP), is an agronomist and rural producer. He grows cauliflower, pumpkins and peppers. “I came to discover, mainly, the jalapeño pepper and the new features that the company is bringing this year. The materials are very good and adapted for our region. It’s worth the trip, because the event is great and very well organized,” he highlights.
As a reseller of Topseed Premium seeds by Serrana Agrícola, Douglas Gabriel Calot, from Santa Maria do Jetibá (ES), thinks it is important to be at the event. “As we serve producers, Open Field Day adds a lot of knowledge to take to our region. There are materials being launched, others still being tested that could be great options for us.”

In addition to listening to them so that we know what they need and thus contribute more assertively to their success. Together, we are certainly stronger”, explains the Marketing Manager at Agristar do Brasil, Marcos Vieira.
