The employed population in Brazilian agribusiness reached a record number of 28,4 million people in 2025, representing a growth of 2,2% compared to 2024 (601,8 more people). As a result, the sector's share of total job creation in the country increased from 26,1% in 2024 to 26,3% in 2025.
The data was released in the bulletin "Labor Market in Brazilian Agribusiness," by the Confederation of Agriculture and Livestock of Brazil (CNA) and the Center for Advanced Studies in Applied Economics (Cepea).
By segment, with the exception of the primary sector (which recorded a decline), all links in the chain showed expansion, with emphasis on agricultural services (6,1%), followed by inputs (3,4%) and agro-industry (1,4%).
The publication indicated a 4,6% increase in the number of workers with formal employment contracts and a 3,2% increase among the self-employed. By education level, there was an increase in the participation of workers with higher education (8,3%) and secondary education (4,2%).
According to the CNA/Cepea bulletin, the participation of female labor grew by 2,6%, while that of male labor increased by 1,9%.
The average income of the employed population in agribusiness also registered an increase of 3,9% in 2025, compared to 2024, standing 0,5 percentage points above the total employment average, which was 3,4%.
Starting with this edition, the bulletin includes a new indicator: the agribusiness wage bill, which corresponds to the total amount of labor income earned by those employed in a given sector or in the economy. The objective is to assess not only job creation, but also purchasing power and consumption potential associated with labor income.
In this context, the total wage bill for agribusiness grew by 7,2% in 2025 compared to 2024, with particular emphasis on the category "self-employed workers," which showed an increase of 7,2%, and "employees and others," with growth of 6,7%.
