Climate change influences the increase in agricultural production
Brandt offers farmers technologies that help plants weather climate challenges
According to the Agricultural Monitoring Bulletin, the conditions observed in the first weeks of the month show the highest rainfall in the North and part of the Central-West region, which favored the development of second-crop corn in the largest producing state.
The study is carried out monthly by the National Supply Company (Conab), and shows that in the Matopiba region and also in the Southeast and South regions and in Mato Grosso do Sul, the climate was drier, favoring the harvest of the first crop. There was water restriction for second harvest crops already sown and under development. The first harvest of soybeans and corn advanced in the main producing states, with a slight delay in relation to the previous harvest. The sowing of the second crop is almost complete.
Monitoring showed that, in most regions, negative anomalies in the Vegetation Index (IV) are prevailing, that is, indicative of a condition different from that which occurred in the previous harvest, in this case, expressing the difference in the planting and harvesting calendar. These negative anomalies are mainly due to the delay in the beginning of sowing and the development of second crop corn, in part of the Center-West, Southeast and South of the country and to water restrictions in some states. This index, however, is on the rise, which indicates the growth of crops.
The Agricultural Monitoring Bulletin stands out among Conab's services to serve society with information to support harvest estimates made by the Company. In this edition, the study focused on the main grain producing regions of the country, considering summer crops, Harvest 2020/2021, during the period from April 1st to 22nd, 2021.
