Agricultural input distribution companies associated with Andav earned R$112,6 billion in 2021

The agricultural input distribution market reached revenue of R$112,6 billion in 2021. Of this amount, the input area represented R$77,5 billion, while grain sales amounted to R$35,1 billion. The value refers to members of the National Association of Agricultural and Veterinary Input Distributors (Andav), who represent 70% of the total agricultural input distribution market in Brazil. The information is part of the 7th National Distribution Survey, an initiative by Andav and organization by Markestrat, and was partially presented this Thursday, August 18th, during the Andav 2022 Congress.

“The research is the main working material for us to design the service strategy for our members and establish relationships with the respective suppliers and rural producers”, said the executive president of Andav, Paulo Tibúrcio. This edition had the highest participation rate (91,2%), which represents more than 2200 points of sale.

In the area of ​​inputs, the states with the highest participation were Mato Grosso (16,8%), Paraná (15,7%) and Minas Gerais (13%). In terms of culture, the leadership goes to soybeans (51,9%), followed by safrinha corn (18,4%).

In the area of ​​grain sales, 35% of distributors operated in this segment and the highlight was the 3,2 billion bags of soybeans and 1,1 billion bags of corn sold. The states with the highest participation were Mato Grosso (46,7%) and Paraná (16,8%).

When it comes to points of sale, the sector expects to open 1038 new stores in the next three years, a growth of 32,9% in relation to expectations from the 2021 survey. The states that should receive the most points are Paraná (14,2% ), Minas Gerais (14,1%) and Rio Grande do Sul (13,8%). According to Tiburcio, this number could be reached, since 2021 stores were opened in 292 alone.

Regarding the profile of Andav's associates, 52,2% have corporate management compared to 47,8% family management. From the previous survey, the change was 1 percentage point for corporate. In more than 80% of associates, the founder works in the company. Regarding mergers and acquisitions, an average of 15% went through this process.

In the case of the marketing area, in 2021, 95 thousand producers participated in training events promoted by distributors and the sector uses social networks and services as tools: Whatsapp (88,4%), Instagram (79,1%) and Facebook (52,2%).
