Brazilian agribusiness exports totaled US$10,7 billion in January 2026, according to data from the Secretariat of Foreign Trade (Secex), analyzed by Itaú BBA in the February Radar Agro report. This result represents a 23% decrease compared to December 2025 and a 2,2% decline compared to January of last year.
Despite the overall negative performance, the soybean complex stood out during the month, both in volume and prices.
Soybean shipments totaled 1,9 million tons, up 75% compared to January 2025. The average price rose 9,2%, to US$442,8 per ton.
In the soybean meal sector, exports also reached 1,9 million tons, a 13% increase year-on-year, with prices stable at US$356 per ton. Soybean oil shipments reached 146 tons, a 66% increase, while the average price rose 7% to US$1.101,4 per ton.
In total, the soybean complex generated revenue of US$1,66 billion in January.
Animal proteins also showed positive performance at the beginning of the year. Exports of fresh beef reached 231,8 tons, a 29% increase compared to January 2025.
Shipments of fresh chicken meat totaled 396 tons, a 3,7% increase compared to the same period last year. Exports of fresh pork reached 100 tons, a 14% increase year-on-year.
In the sugar and ethanol sector, exports registered a sharp decline. Exports totaled 44 cubic meters, a 76% drop compared to January 2025. The average price fell 3%, to US$ 543,8 per cubic meter.
VHP sugar shipments totaled 1,6 million tons, a 2% decrease, with an average price of US$357,8 per ton — a 25% drop compared to the previous year.
Refined sugar also saw a 2,4% decrease in volume, with 323 tons exported. The average price was US$373,1 per ton, 30% lower than that recorded in the same month last year.
Cotton exports reached 317 tons, a 24% decrease compared to January 2025. Average prices fell 10% in the same comparison, to US$1.543,5 per ton.
Conversely, corn shipments reached 4,2 million tons, an 18% increase year-on-year, with prices stable at US$218,7 per ton.
The month's performance indicates a start to the year marked by a recovery in volumes in some sectors, especially soybeans and meat, while segments such as sugar, ethanol, and cotton faced price pressure and a decline in shipments.
