Soybean production in the 2024/25 harvest reaches historic record
StoneX survey indicates that the advance is due to the positive review of productivity in Bahia
The survey on the volume of agro-industrial production, by FGVAgro, reveals that the Agro-industry registered a slight increase of 1% in April compared to March (already considering seasonal adjustments). This result was driven mainly by the Food and Beverage Products segment (1,7%). The Non-Food Products segment also registered expansion, but at a much slower pace: 0,2%.
On the other hand, when analyzing the year-on-year comparison, the Agribusiness, in April compared to the same month last year, registered a decrease (-3,5%). However, it is important to highlight that we had a shorter April. While in 2025 the month of April had 20 business days, in 2024 it had 22 business days.
Naturally, this 10% difference in the number of business days influences variations without controlling for the calendar effect, such as the year-on-year variation. The negative result was derived from both the Food and Beverage Products segment (-3,7%) and Non-Food Products (-3,3%).
In the year to date, agro-industrial production had a slight increase of 0,3% compared to the same period in 2024. Until March, the accumulated growth in the year was 1,7%, that is, growth slowed significantly between March and April 2025.
According to an analysis by FGVAgro, since most sectors of the agribusiness sector showed the same behavior, the question remains: is the agribusiness sector slowing down, like other segments of the Brazilian economy, or was there simply a contraction resulting from a shorter April (i.e., with fewer business days)? Only data from next month will be able to answer this question.
