In the first half of this year, Brazilian exports of agribusiness products reached a record value of US$82,80 billion, growth of 4,5% compared to the first half of 2022 (US$79,24 billion). The increase in the quantum index (+8%) was responsible for the highest value in the historical series, as the price index fell 3,2% in the period.

In June, agribusiness exports reached US$ 15,54 billion, a decrease of 0,6% in relation to the same month of the previous year (US$ 15,62 billion), despite several records observed in soybeans (value and quantity), raw cane sugar (value), fresh beef and chicken (records in quantity) and cellulose (record in quantity).

According to an analysis by the Secretariat of Commerce and International Relations of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (SCRI/Mapa), this scenario is explained by the strong drop in the price index for our exports in the month (-12,9%), which slightly reduced the value monthly relative to June 2022, even with a significant increase in the quantum index (+14,2%).

Accumulated from January to June

According to SCRI analysts, the growth in soybean exports was what contributed most to the expansion in agricultural sales from January to June 2023, with US$ 2,88 billion above what was recorded in the previous year. .

Two other products whose sales grew by more than US$1 billion were corn (+US$1,58 billion) and raw cane sugar (+US$1,20 billion). On the other hand, it is worth highlighting the drop in exports of fresh beef (-US$ 1,26 billion) and green coffee (-US$ 1,04 billion).

Although China has remained the main destination for fresh beef (59,8% share in value), the significant drop still reflects the suspension that occurred at the beginning of 2023, in addition to the drop in average sales prices (-25,3 .XNUMX%).

The smaller volume of coffee shipped is related to low internal availability due to the harvest still being in its initial phase.
