Agribusiness employed 28,6 million people in the second quarter of 2024

CNA Bulletin shows the behavior of the sector's labor market

From April to June 2024, Brazilian agribusiness employed a record 28,6 million people, the highest number recorded since the beginning of the historical series in 2012, surpassing the result of the first quarter of this year.

The data comes from the bulletin “Brazilian Agribusiness Labor Market”, prepared by the Center for Advanced Studies in Applied Economics (Cepea), in partnership with the Brazilian Agriculture and Livestock Confederation (CNA).

According to the survey, agribusiness workers represented 26,5% of the Brazilian labor market in the second quarter. “Compared to the 2nd quarter of 2023, the employed population in the sector increased by 2,3% (643 thousand people), reflecting the larger contingent employed in agribusiness (4,0% or 179 thousand people) and, mainly, in agribusiness services (8,3% or 815 thousand people)”, says the bulletin.
