New AGU demonstration could delay Ferrogrão
In an ADI proposed by PSOL, AGU presented a new petition whose terms, if accepted by the STF, will result in a judgment on the merits of the action
Soy, cellulose, citrus juices and fertilizer are highlighted in the list of goods moved at the Port of Santos in April, showing the strength of Brazilian agribusiness in trade with abroad. The result for solid vegetable bulk reached a record for the month, with 7,6 million tons.
Among export cargo, soybeans totaled 5,0 million tons, 12,5% above the same period last year, bringing the year's total to 14,7 million tons (+ 5%). Cellulose reached 663,9 thousand tons, 6,2% more than April last year, totaling 2,6 million tons in the first four months (+ 2,1%). Shipments of citrus juices grew 98,6%, totaling 241,9 thousand tons, bringing the year's total to 946,8 thousand tons (+28,3%).
Fertilizer was the most important cargo in imports, totaling 670,8 thousand tons in April, 4,1% higher than the same period in 2022.
This result increased the monthly movement of solid bulk (7,6 million tons) by 4,9%, representing a record for the month of April. Likewise, the performance of citrus juices was decisive for the 0,3% increase in liquid bulk (1,5 million tons).
Containerized cargo totaled 393,1 thousand TEU (unit equivalent to a 20-foot container) in April, 5,4% below the same previous period. Year to date it reached 1,4 million TEU, 8,7% lower than the first four months of 2022.
Sugar shipments decreased by 11,3%, totaling 738,6 thousand tons. The accumulated result for the year reached 3,8 million tons (-8,3%).
The Port's handling in April totaled 13,7 million tons, 0,4% below the result presented in the fourth month of 2022. The accumulated result for the year totals 50,2 million tons, 4,4% less than the same period last year.
Ship movement reached 440 berthings in the month (+5,5%) and 1.722 in the four months (+4,1%).
