Employees from AGCO in Jundiaí (SP), a global leader in the manufacture and distribution of agricultural machinery and precision agricultural technologies, came together to develop cardboard beds for communities affected by the floods in Rio Grande do Sul. The initiative transforms cardboard boxes used to send donations in practical and sustainable solutions to help families who have lost their assets.
The project was designed by José Silveiro and Maike Wunsch, collaborators at AGCO, and production was carried out by Fênix Paper, a supplier of cardboard boxes for AGCO Parts. Made from 100% cardboard, the beds are light and easy to assemble, supporting up to 130 kg.
To date, around 30 beds have been produced and another 50 units are planned to be produced. The beds will be distributed among the company's employees who need them and communities affected by the floods in Rio Grande do Sul. "Cardboard is not as resistant as wood, so we will send this initial batch and collect feedback from users to improve the product. Depending From the positive response, we will study ways to make more units viable", explains Maikel Wunsch, Ecommerce manager at AGCO.
“Thinking about the families who will have to start their lives over, we took the joint initiative to benefit those who need donations. We produced a first batch of cardboard beds at our plant in Diadema/SP and are preparing the second batch, which will be delivered by mid-July 2024", stated Wanderson Salles, president of the Fenix Paper Group.
Rodrigo Junqueira, general manager of AGCO and vice-president of Massey Ferguson South America, highlights that the project is an example of the strength of collaboration and solidarity. “We are extremely proud of our employees and partners for their dedication and creativity in developing a solution that can make a difference in people's lives," he says.
