The initial discussions on São Paulo wheat this year will be established on March 01st during the first meeting of the São Paulo Wheat Sector Chamber of 2023. The meeting will be held in a hybrid format, in the auditorium of the Holambra Cooperativa Agroindustrial, located on Rodovia Raposo Tavares, Km 256 – Campos de Holambra – Paranapanema (SP). Throughout the event, issues such as the national and global wheat situation will be debated, which continues to suffer the consequences of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine a year after the start of this crisis, as well as issues of genetic improvement of the grain that is planted in São Paulo soil. , with the presentation of new materials available for cultivation.
“São Paulo and Brazil as a whole had a very positive 2022 in relation to the volume of wheat produced, reaching records at state and federal level. However, the world cereal market is still directly influenced by factors such as the conflict in Europe, which impacts the production flow of one of the largest players in the sector, and climate issues, which generated a severe crop failure in Argentina, for example . This meeting will be important for us to analyze all these topics and discuss the best directions for the São Paulo wheat chain”, says the President of the São Paulo Wheat Sector Chamber, Ruy Zanardi.
With the aim of providing a perspective on cereal production in the state, the largest cooperatives and cereal producers in São Paulo will present their reports, helping to draw up projections and guide decision-making from the field to the milling industry.
“From 2021 to last year, São Paulo doubled the volume of wheat produced, ending 2022 with more than 500 thousand tons recorded. With this upward movement in national production, we hope to continue increasing the total value of the harvest, without neglecting the quality of the cereal”, he points out.
The meeting on March 01st will also be an opportunity to nominate members for the São Paulo Wheat Sector Chamber, to be carried out by the Administrative Director of the Sector Chambers at the São Paulo State Department of Agriculture, Milena Rodrigues.
