The Port of São Sebastião, on the northern coast of São Paulo (SP), carried out, at the beginning of this week, the first coffee export operation after more than 60 years without movements of this type. Through Seaforte, a company of the Paraná group FTSpar, the Companhia Docas de São Sebastião once again has coffee on its list of products for export.
More than 8.000 tons of green coffee produced in Minas Gerais and São Paulo were shipped to Germany. The last coffee industry operation carried out at the Port of São Sebastião took place in the 1960s.
“Operating this cargo after so many years in our Port reaffirms our commitment to working with port operators and providing conditions for new cargo to be captured and consolidated. We remain confident and working to maintain the attractiveness of the Port of São Sebastião,” said the CEO of Docas de São Sebastião, Ernesto Sampaio.
Brazil is the world's largest coffee exporter. The country is responsible for almost 40% of all global production and the expectation for the 2023/2024 harvest is more than 66 million bags.
“For us Brazilians, coffee is a product that we are very proud of. We know the quality that makes it the best coffee in the world. FTS is known for its diversification of operations. This one in São Sebastião represents a paradigm shift in a short space of time. So, for us, it is very important to resume this type of operation that has not been carried out for a long time,” says FTSpar CEO Andre Maragliano.
“FTSpar is a group of companies specialized in offering integrated logistics solutions. With a solid track record and specialized and customized services, our companies have the expertise to serve customers from end to end in each operation, whether in shipping agencies, port operations, storage, product packaging, road transportation and other services such as truck cleaning and cargo classification.” highlights FTSPAR’s Logistics Director, Rafael Moura.
Located in São Sebastião, on the northern coast of the State of São Paulo, Seaforte Operações Portuárias specializes in import and export services for solid bulk, mineral and vegetable cargo and general cargo, with a specialty in the export of bulk and bagged sugar.
It is a public port, managed by Companhia Docas de São Sebastião, a company linked to the Secretariat of Environment, Infrastructure and Logistics of the State of São Paulo (Semil). Its access configuration makes it the third best port region in the world.
The Port of São Sebastião has easy access via the Tamoios highway, which is connected to the main accesses to the state of São Paulo, and also due to its proximity to the railway network and São José dos Campos International Airport.
The main import products are soda ash, sodium sulfate, malt, barley, wheat, steel products, machinery and equipment, steel wire coils and general cargo.
