Adequacy of the spray volume generates savings in pest control in citrus

Based on research focused on application technology, developed by Fundecitrus and partner institutions since the 2000s, and with the definition of the critical control period for each disease, it has been possible to save water and active ingredients in the control of citrus pests and diseases. .

To control the leprosy mite, it was observed that acaricides applied in spray volumes of 100 to 150 mL/m3 of canopy present control efficiency similar to the volumes previously used, of 200 to 400 mL/m3. With these values, good control has been achieved in adult orchards with volumes between 2 and 3 thousand liters per hectare compared to the volume of 8 to 10 thousand liters per hectare used in the early 2000s.
