AGCO has announced advancements in fuel-efficient technologies for tractors under the Fendt, Massey Ferguson, and Valtra brands. The results come from independent DLG PowerMix tests conducted by Deutsche Landwirtschafts-Gesellschaft. The company attributes the gains to the use of AGCO Power engines and the integration between the engine, transmission, and powertrain.

According to the company, the goal is to reduce farmers' operating costs without compromising performance, reliability, and availability during field operations. Kari Aaltonen, engineering director at AGCO Power, stated that the division develops integrated engines and powertrains to generate measurable gains in real-world working conditions.

At Fendt, the AGCO Power CORE engine family integrates recent tractor platforms. The CORE50 engine powers the Fendt 600 Vario series. The CORE75 powers the Fendt 700 Vario Gen7 series. Independent testing of the Fendt 700 Vario series, with continuously variable transmission, has indicated fuel efficiency in field and transport applications.

Massey Ferguson also uses AGCO Power engines in its current product line. In a recent DLG PowerMix test, the Massey Ferguson 8S.265 Xtra Dyna E-Power came in first overall for field work in its category. AGCO attributes the result to the integration of the engine with the transmission and the tractor's design.

At Valtra, AGCO Power engines are the power source for the tractor line. The EcoPower philosophy prioritizes high torque at lower engine speeds. This concept aims to reduce fuel consumption in field and transport operations. The brand also uses a selective catalytic reduction system, known by the acronym SCR, to promote efficient combustion and improve fuel consumption compared to previous engine generations.
