The National Supply Company (Conab) will begin, next Monday (19), in all regions of the country, the 9th stage of inspection of government stocks stored by companies contracted by the Federal Government and its own Storage Units. More than 800 thousand tons of products such as rice, coffee, corn, wheat, bags, packaging and various processed or manufactured items will be inspected. Inspectors will visit 179 storage units across the country.

The essential purpose of monitoring government stocks is to determine the quality and quantity of stocks and assess the technical-operational situation of depository units. Until the eighth stage, more than 4,3 million tons of products were inspected.

In the inspections that Conab carries out, when deviations are detected, in addition to administrative consequences, the fact is brought to the attention of the federal police, the Federal Public Ministry, the Federal Revenue Service and the state Finance Department. As for losses in own warehouses, the responsibility is passed on to the Company's Storage and Logistics sectors and, in the case of third-party warehouses, also to the financial area, as there are administrative charges.
