The government of the State of Rio Grande do Sul kicked off, this Monday (15/8), the 45th Expointer, which will take place between August 27th and September 4th at the Assis Brasil State Exhibition Park, in Esteio. The launch took place at the Multiverso space, at Cais Embarcadero, in Porto Alegre, with the presence of governor Ranolfo Vieira Júnior; the Secretary of Agriculture, Livestock and Rural Development, Domingos Velho Lopes; in addition to other state secretaries, mayors, authorities, guests.

There, hundreds of images by Seapdr photographer, Fernando Dias, were displayed, representing the productive diversity of the agricultural sector in Rio Grande do Sul. “Expointer is the fair where we demonstrate our main vocation to the country and the world. This year, we have highly positive expectations, whether in relation to the number of people or businesses, because there will be no restrictions on the presence of the public. For all these reasons, we will transfer the government headquarters to the exhibition park during the nine days of the fair”, said the governor.

In the last two years, the fair took place amidst a scenario of restrictions imposed by the pandemic – in 2020, it was closed to the public; in 2021, there was a limited number of visitors to comply with health protocols.

In addition to technical events, workshops, animal judging and product exhibitions and sales, the 2022 edition will feature entertainment activities, auctions and artistic and cultural shows. There will also be a discussion of topics relevant to Rio Grande do Sul and national agriculture: innovation, technology, sustainable production, water reservation, low-carbon agriculture and economic development combined with environmental preservation.

“We expect more than 600 thousand people and to generate around R$4 billion in business. We want the fair to represent the soul of Rio Grande do Sul, with all its diversity and plurality of cultures. It is this image that we intend to convey, of a state where harmony and sustainable development of the production chain are examples for the world”, said the Secretary of Agriculture, Livestock and Rural Development, Domingos Antonio Velho Lopes.
