Corn exports show a significant drop in June
Export bulletin, produced monthly by Aprosoja/MS, points to a 97% reduction
The area destined for second harvest corn in Mato Grosso do Sul (MS) was recalculated by the Agribusiness Geographic Information System (Siga-MS) project in Bulletin 568 of the second week of July. Based on the new data, the expectation is that the harvest will be 5,8% smaller compared to the previous cycle (2022-23), totaling 2,218 million hectares.
The estimated productivity is 86,3 bags per hectare, which leads to an expected production of 11,485 million tons. Adverse weather conditions and the reduction in planted area pushed down the harvest forecast, which was estimated at 12,3 million tons at the beginning of the cycle.
According to a report by project technicians, all regions of the State are in full reproductive phenological development, which is the plant's growth and maturation phase. In the North region, which comprises the municipalities of Sonora, Corguinho, Pedro Gomes, Coxim, Rio Verde de Mato Grosso, São Gabriel do Oeste, Camapuã, Bandeirantes, Rio Negro, Corguinho, Rochedo and Jaraguari, the phenological stage of the crops presents good conditions at the time. However, there is a risk of suffering from drought during the cycle.
Identical situation of crops in the Northeast region (Alcinópolis, Costa Rica, Chapadão do Sul, Cassilândia, Paranaíba, Aparecida do Taboado, Selvíria, Três Lagoas, Inocência, Água Clara, Paraíso das Águas and Figueirão), with 86% in good conditions, 9 % regular and only 5% bad. The West (58% good, 30% bad and 12% fair) and Center (43% good, 30% bad and 27% fair) regions present an average picture of crops.
In the South, Southwest, Southeast and South-Border regions, the effects of adverse weather conditions were most felt. In the South region, 33% of corn crops are in poor condition, 47% are in good condition and only 20% are in good condition. In the Southwest region, the data is as follows: 52% bad, 28% good and 20% regular. In the South-Border region: 54% bad, 26% fair, 20% good. Southeast Region: 46% bad, 35% fair, 19% good.
Based on the information collected, by Friday, the 12th, the harvested area monitored by the Siga-MS Project reached 40,4% of the crops. The municipalities of Amambai, Aral Moreira, Iguatemi, Laguna Carapã, Sete Quedas and Tacuru are further along.
Siga-MS is coordinated by the Secretariat of Environment, Development, Science, Technology and Innovation of Mato Grosso do Sul (Semadesc), in partnership with the Association of Soy Producers of Mato Grosso do Sul (Aprosoja/MS).
