The assessment concerns the possibility for member states to establish temporary authorizations for pesticides
The National Supply Company (Conab) is once again in the field to collect data and update the figures for the Brazilian grain harvest, from January 23rd to 27th. Technicians from the state-owned company will visit crops in the states of Bahia, Mato Grosso, Rio Grande do Sul, Goiás, São Paulo and Tocantins, to check in the field the production, area and productivity perspectives and the possible effects of weather events on crops.
At this time, the progress of the soybean harvest in the Center-South Region and the preparation for sowing the 2nd harvest corn will be specifically evaluated. Corn and soybeans in Rio Grande do Sul, for example, will be examined in the field to assess the impacts of irregular rainfall in some regions. In other states, the survey will take place remotely, and the complete result will be released in the 5th Grain Survey of the 2022/2023 Harvest, on February 8th.
Parallel to the harvest survey work, Conab carries out objective monitoring of soybeans, through mapping of the cultivated area in the southern region carried out by the Company itself, and also through the Crop Tour (technical trip prepared by partner institutions to visit the main productive areas that influence the agricultural commodities market).
All first harvest crops and the beginning of sowing of second harvest crops will be evaluated to update the grain survey numbers. Data collection is carried out with several partner institutions, including municipal class entities (unions), small and large producers, agricultural cooperatives, input resellers and rural assistance and planning companies.
In the 4th Survey, released by Conab at the beginning of January, grain production in the country was forecast at around 310,9 million tons. In addition to the monthly harvest bulletins produced by Conab, updated information on Brazilian crops can also be accessed in the study Harvest Progress, available on the Company's website.
