Brazil exports 13,6 million bags of coffee in the year to May
Volume represents a drop of 19% compared to the same period in 2022 and reflects a slower start to the harvest and the little coffee remaining after two smaller harvests
Investments in innovation in production chains contribute to adding value to Brazilian agribusiness, by allowing an increase in productivity combined with the environmental preservation agenda. In this context, the 22nd Brazilian Agribusiness Congress, organized by ABAG - Brazilian Agribusiness Association and B3, the Brazilian stock exchange, will feature the panel Production Chains and Innovation, with the participation of Davide Ceper, CEO of Varda; Luiz Lourenço, president of Cocamar; Malu Nachreiner, CEO of Bayer Brasil; Ricardo Scheffer de Figueiredo, CEO of Grupo Sonda Brasil.
During the debate, moderated by Silvia Massruhá, president of EMBRAPA, executives will assess the importance, for the competitiveness of the sector, of new technologies and disruptive processes in different production chains, and will point out the benefits of investing in innovation to reduce costs and increased productivity. They will also consider how agriculture can give new meaning to its future through innovation.
Innovation is one of the pillars for maintaining Brazilian agribusiness as a protagonist in increasing the production and supply of food, fiber and renewable energy globally. The sector has a prominent role in national socioeconomic development. In the first quarter of this year, agricultural GDP grew 21,6% compared to the last quarter of 2022, helping to increase Brazilian GDP by 1,9% in the period. The data are from IBGE.
