The Ministry of Agriculture (Mapa) published in the Official Gazette of the Union the extract of the agreement signed with the Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock, Sustainable Production and Irrigation of Rio Grande do Sul (Seapi/RS). The agreement has a global value of R$21.284.243,09, of which R$21 million will be transferred by Mapa.

According to the superintendent of Mapa in Rio Grande do Sul, José Cleber Dias de Souza, negotiations for the agreement began at the end of May, during the installation of the traveling office, led by Minister Carlos Fávaro. At the time, the team from the state's Agriculture and Livestock Superintendence, in partnership with Seapi/RS and the Ministry's Agricultural Defense Secretariat, prepared a document detailing the amount needed to recover Rio Grande do Sul's agricultural activities.

The resources were made available through Provisional Measure No. 1.260/2024, which also allocated funds to the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) and Embrapa. In total, more than R$80 million were directed to Rio Grande do Sul.

The agreement provides for investments in several areas of Seapi/RS, including animal and plant protection, research and diagnostics. The resources will be used to purchase office equipment, IT equipment, laboratory materials and vehicles. These investments will help ensure the health of crops and livestock, in addition to strengthening the services provided to farmers and breeders in the state.

The new agreement reaffirms the Federal Government's commitment to supporting the strengthening of the agricultural sector in Rio Grande do Sul, ensuring adequate conditions for the production and sale of agricultural and livestock products in the state.
