Planting of the 2025/26 soybean crop has begun in several regions of Paraná, still partially and dependent on rainfall. In areas that have received recent rainfall, progress has been more intense, while producers in other locations await better moisture conditions to begin planting. The expected reduction in acreage in some regions reflects rising production costs and the current market price situation, according to the Department of Rural Economy (Deral).

Corn has also been booming in Paraná's fields: the second crop is in its final stages, with average yields within expectations, despite the impacts of drought and frost. Summer corn planting has begun in several regions, with good progress where there has been rainfall, although in some areas, germination and plant development are uneven due to water shortages. Producers should be vigilant about phytosanitary management, given reports of pests such as the corn leafhopper.

Harvests in progress

Among the harvests in progress, the café reports completion or completion in several regions, with producers taking advantage of current market prices. sugar cane continues to be harvested regularly in part of the state, but work has been temporarily interrupted in some areas due to weather conditions. chips continues to be harvested normally, but newly planted areas face water stress, affecting initial development.

Winter crops

In winter crops, the harvest of barley progresses with good grain quality, favored by current weather conditions. oatmeal has also been harvested with satisfactory productivity, while the wheat continues in practically all producing regions of Paraná. Despite the impacts of frost and water deficits in some locations, grain quality remains very good, and phytosanitary control has been intensified to combat diseases such as powdery mildew and aphids.

Other crops

  • First crop beans: planting started in some regions, with difficulties in the initial establishment of crops due to the drought.
  • Vegetables: Outdoor vegetables require greater irrigation due to below-average rainfall, although recent rainfall has mitigated the impacts.
  • Irrigated rice: continues with good vegetative development in the areas already planted.
  • Potato: fast pace of planting in some regions, and slow harvest in others.

Pastures

Pastures have suffered from poor regrowth in recent weeks due to the drought, compromising green mass production and increasing supplementation costs, although the return of rains is beginning to lead to vegetation recovery in some regions.
