The harvest of the second bean crop has begun in the state of Paraná, with producers concerned about prices, especially for black beans, which have seen a significant drop. In addition, despite recent rains, field technicians are already estimating losses in the crop, with an impact on production yields. The information is from the Department of Rural Economy (Deral).
In the second corn crop, some producers decided to continue planting outside the zoning, assuming the risks of the situation. The part of the crops that is beginning to flower is showing good development conditions, favored by the rainfall of the last few weeks.
However, another portion of crops, already in the fruiting phase, suffers from irregular rainfall. Precipitation has not been sufficient to meet the crop's needs, resulting in irreversible losses in productivity, which vary depending on the planting time.
Furthermore, the lack of regular rainfall in some regions worsens the situation, forcing producers to adopt appropriate management to control pests such as aphids and leafhoppers.
As for wheat, the state's producers are beginning work to prepare the soil for sowing, which begins in April. However, the sharp reduction in the area allocated to the crop is considered almost irreversible in this harvest.
The increase in insurance costs and the reduction in coverage for inclement weather are cited as reasons for converting these areas into forage areas, such as mixed and single areas.
