USDA projects soybean growth in Brazil in the 2025/26 harvest
Planted area should reach 49,1 million hectares, with production estimated at 176 million tons
Field conditions for the second 2024/25 corn crop in Paraná have worsened in the last week. According to the Weekly Bulletin of the Department of Rural Economy (Deral), the percentage of crops in good condition fell from 71% to 68%.
According to Deral analyst Edmar Wardensk Gervasio, areas in average condition remained stable at 18%, while crops in poor condition increased to 14%, compared to 11% the previous week. “This worsening scenario already reflects the frosts that occurred last week. Despite the deterioration in field conditions, the impacts of the frosts tend to be limited, as most of the crops were already in the maturation phase,” he explained.
This week, the percentage of ripening crops reached 76%, possibly no longer at risk of damage from future frosts. 26% of the area to be harvested is in the fruiting phase, which is more susceptible to new frosts. However, as Gervasio explains, there is no forecast of significant frosts for the next 72 hours.
Rainfall recorded throughout the week in much of the state also hindered the progress of the harvest. So far, 16% of the planted area, estimated at 2,76 million hectares, has already been harvested, compared to 12% the previous week.
