The 2020/21 soybean harvest has been marked by unfavorable weather conditions for the crop. In the beginning, the lack of rain caused delays in planting in almost all producing regions and now, in the final stretch, the irregular rainfall continues and there is still the challenge of harvesting, which in many places will coincide with a rainier period.

Even with so much data available about the climate, it is difficult for rural producers to measure the size of the problem in advance, after all, agriculture is a so-called “open air industry”. An atypical harvest like this, in relation to climatic conditions, reinforces the importance of making the right decisions when choosing the soybean cultivar that will enter the area, considering its genetic attributes.

TMG 2383IPRO, from TMG - Tropical Melhoramento e Genética, is one of the soybean cultivars that delivers many competitive advantages, especially in harvests as challenging as 2020/21. In addition to productivity, it has wide adaptability for planting, being easy to work in different regions of the Brazilian cerrado, and good leaf health.

The cultivar is resistant to soybean cyst nematode races 1 and 3, has good sprouting capacity and tolerates rain well at harvest. Manager of the JC Farm, of the Copetral Group, in Sinop (MT), Cleibe Henrique da Costa highlights the competitive advantages of the cultivar that have made it the group's flagship product. “We are in the third harvest of TMG 2383IPRO and since the first representative tests we have seen a high production rate, which is why we decided to invest more. Last year we had a significant area and we found certain plots with 80 bags per hectare. It is a material that is more resistant to rain and the tendency is for us to continue with TMG 2383 in the portfolio as our flagship product”, he says.

Competitors

The high production ceiling of the TMG 2383IPRO was proven in more than 700 comparisons, from commercial areas and experiments, considering 12 main competitors, in the last two harvests (2018/19 and 2019/20). The survey showed that the average productivity of the cultivar was 74,5 sc/ha, with an average gain of 3,5 sc/ha compared to the average of competitors, in all regions of Mato Grosso, in Goiás, in the MAPITOPA region and Bahia. The cultivar had higher productivity in 66% of the total trials over the two years.

For the 2021/22 harvest, TMG 2383IPRO is available on several channels that multiply TMG varieties for Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Goiás, Rondônia, Pará, Tocantins, Maranhão, Piauí and Bahia. Contact details for these companies are found on the website www.tmg.agr.br

“Don’t take risks in the 2021/22 harvest, this is the message we leave as a warning to producers. Making choices that indicate the certainty of the best result is much more intelligent, because in no harvest is it possible to know how it will be completely and we have seen how much the producer has suffered with the problems of the current harvest”, highlights the commercial manager of TMG in Mato Grosso, Célio Neiva.
