Estimates for the 2019/20 harvest point to growth in Brazilian grain production, according to Conab. With respect to corn The first harvest saw growth of 0,9% in the sown area, totaling 4,1 million hectares, and production estimated at 26,3 million tons, 2,4% higher than 2018/19.

In this first moment, the area allocation is greater for soybean planting and, from January onwards, after the legume harvest, corn sowing intensifies, considered as a second crop, and which currently represents more than 70% of the total corn production in the country.

The culture of soybean has maintained the growth trend in the cultivated area and, in this harvest, the estimate points to growth of 2,3% in relation to the previous cycle, producing 120,9 million tons.

Winter 2019 harvest

The 2019 wheat harvest is at an advanced stage of harvest and the projection is that the production of this cereal will be 5,3 million tons, a reduction of 2,8% compared to 2018, mainly as a result of climatic adversities faced during the cycle .

planted area

The 2019/20 harvest foresees an increase in planted area compared to the previous season. Around 64.099,2 thousand hectares are estimated for this cycle, signaling an increase of 1,4% compared to 2018/19. This corresponds to an absolute variation of 902,8 thousand hectares, mainly influenced by the growth in soybean area.

The 2019/20 season is expected to record the second highest average productivity in the historical series, largely due to the increase in the technological package used by Brazilian agriculture. As the harvest progresses and crops develop, the various parameters that make up productivity (for example: climate and technology) can be better assessed through field research, which will be monitored using the normalized difference vegetation index ( NDVI) of crops, comparing vegetation conditions in the current harvest with previous ones.
