15th National Clean Field Day takes place in 22 Brazilian states

The celebration of National Clean Field Day, on August 18, has brought together more than a million people across Brazil since its first edition in 2005. This year, when the event celebrates its 15th anniversary, the official ceremony takes place on August 16, in Bebedouro (SP). Simultaneously, another important event for the Campo Limpo System (reverse logistics of empty packaging and post-consumer leftovers of agricultural pesticides) will take place: the inauguration of Campo Limpo Tampas e Resinas Plásticas, in Taubaté (SP), which will produce lids from recycled raw material from the System.

With the theme “Together, sowing the clean field”, National Clean Field Day will bring together participants in the reverse logistics program and the communities surrounding empty packaging reception units to share the results and benefits generated by the System, which is reference in the country and the world.

“The countless activities represent an opportunity for the community to learn about the System’s work. They also contribute to increasing everyone's awareness and involvement in our program, which is increasingly successful in taking care of the environment and keeping the countryside clean”, highlights João Cesar M. Rando, director-president of inpEV (National Institute of Processing of Empty Packaging), managing entity of the System. Rando highlights the importance of celebrating the more than 500 thousand tons of empty packaging removed from the fields and disposed of in an environmentally appropriate way, in 17 years of operation.

More than 100 reception units in 22 Brazilian states will promote special actions, such as DNCL Portas Abertas, DNCL Solemidade, (celebration with the presence of public authorities); the DNCL at School and University, which promotes actions aimed at primary, secondary and university students; DNCL Ação com Agricultor, an event responsible for disseminating information and sustainable solutions among farmers; and DNCL Ação Comunitária, which encourages community involvement in environmentally friendly practices. The date recognizes the importance of involving all links in the agricultural chain – farmers, distribution channels, manufacturers and public authorities – for the success of the System.
