What is the impact of non-tariff barriers imposed by Northern Hemisphere countries on Brazilian agribusiness? Is Brazil capable of increasing the competitiveness of the agricultural sector, improving technology and ensuring increasingly sustainable agriculture? These and other questions will guide the debate between Brazilian agribusiness institutions and sectoral entities from Rio Grande do Sul during the 15th Agrimark Brasil, a talk show that takes place on June 26th (Tuesday), from 13:30 pm to 17:00 pm, in the Auditorium of Emater/RS. The central theme of the event led by the Institute of Agribusiness Education (I-UMA) will be on the Challenges of Brazilian Agribusiness in a Changing Scenario and will have two debate panels – Challenges for the competitiveness of agribusiness and Challenges for the sustainability of agribusiness, lasting about an hour each.

Among the guests of this edition are the President of Aprosoja Brasil, Bartolomeu Bráz Pereira, Chief Economist of Farsul (Federation of Agriculture of the State of RS), Antonio da Luz, the Head of Business Sustainability Latam at Syngenta, Valter Brunner, the President of The Nature Conservancy, Antonio Werneck, a non-governmental organization that works on a global scale to conserve the environment and Maria de Fátima Marchezan, President of the Alegrete Rice Growers Association.

The first panel 'Challenges for the competitiveness of Agribusiness' proposes a debate based on the discussion on non-tariff barriers imposed by countries in the Northern Hemisphere on Brazilian agribusiness, analyzing changes in framework regulations that are taking place in Europe and the USA, their opportunities and difficulties, and how this modernization takes place in Brazil, at the federal (regulatory framework, public consultations of regulatory agencies, product reassessments) and state levels.
Following the program, Agrimark will address the 'Challenges for the sustainability of Agribusiness' with the aim of complementing the previous block and proposing a debate on the evolution of agricultural practices in Brazil (Forest Code and the recovery of native areas on rural properties, certifications , climate change and low-carbon agriculture, new technologies and precision agriculture) and analyze examples of initiatives that are being adopted to increase the sustainability of agribusiness, showing advances and challenges.
The event, which will be moderated by journalist Gisele Loeblein, agribusiness columnist for Jornal Zero Hora, will provide dialogue with authorities from the State Government, representatives of sectoral entities, the cooperative system, rural producers, researchers and specialized media to address the challenges and perspectives for the sector.
