On March 22nd, World Water Day is celebrated. It is on this date, as on other occasions, that countless impact campaigns, originating from different sectors of society and the business world, begin to gain prominence in the news and advertising spaces. Despite this responsible and conscious approach to the topic, it is worth reflecting, on a collective level, whether all social sectors are demonstrating, in an objective and practical way, how they contribute to the preservation of this asset so vital to the planet.

When we enter the agribusiness production chain, for example, we can see different methods and technologies, widely adopted by companies and farmers, that meet the rational and sustainable use of water. However, in similar proportions, we still see a lot of misinformation and due clarifications to the general public, especially to those geographically more distant from agricultural reality and daily life. In line with the permanent mission of feeding the world, Agriculture is a fundamental part of cyclical and responsible water management.

Among these practices, one of the great examples that we can highlight within our daily operational routine is the presence of Emergency Basins, designed for collection, analysis and treatment (when necessary) of rainwater in the external area of factories. In this system, the volume of the first minutes of rain that hits the ground is taken to the access compartment to the basins, where a sample of water is collected and sent for laboratory analysis before being sent to rivers and river currents in the surrounding area. If the acceptable parameters for the presence of waste are exceeded, this water is sent to the treatment or incineration process.

It is worth noting that emergency basins, for the vast majority of cases, function as a complementary protection measure (in addition to primary containment dikes).

It is worth noting that the water collected by emergency basins, even without the risk of contamination, is not used, under no circumstances, in the composition or conduction of any material produced by the company.

Faced with major challenges to be faced within the national production scale, it is essential that industries and companies in the logistics and product storage sector establish strict operational safety rules and parameters capable of producing results and examples of efficiency in sustainable and non- aggressive to the environment. It is with this same water, remembered on this date, that we can define well-defined directions and paths for maintaining not only our existence, but also the harmony and interdependence of our biome on Earth.
