The word Momentum, which comes from Latin and means movement, gives its name to the family of planters that took planting to a new level, implementing cutting-edge technology and bringing a major difference in the self-transportable planter market, providing more agility and efficiency during operation. of sowing.

Seeking to meet the needs of farmers, Valtra's family of Momentum Planters was expanded with the launch of the model that covers 18 to 24 planting lines. This, in turn, meets the requirement for smaller machines, with self-transportable systems and which have implemented planting technology.

Planting depth

One of the main challenges during the process of establishing a crop is the depth of work, as this will have a direct influence on the emergence of the crop. Therefore, the depth must be homogeneous so that emergence is uniform, which facilitates crop management and, in addition, enhances crop productivity, as the effect of “dominated and dominant” plants does not occur.

In view of this, Momentum has a structure designed and developed to maintain working depth regardless of the condition of the terrain. It has a tubular structure, which is divided into three modules, one central and two lateral, which improve the angulation of the chassis itself, ensuring greater flexibility, as well as facilitating the movement of the machine for opening and closing.

Wing Flex is the system that guarantees the angulation of the side modules and, in turn, allows them to have an angulation of up to 20° upwards and 20° downwards. Furthermore, Momentum has the Smart Frame system, which is responsible for maintaining uniform pressure on the planting lines, even in the face of irregularities in the terrain. These two systems together improve crop productivity by up to 2%, as all lines maintain the same pressure and uniformity.

For better load distribution throughout the chassis and, consequently, planting lines, the new Momentum has the Weight Transfer system, which improves emergence by up to 7%, as it is formed by two lateral cylinders that will transfer the weight central to the side modules, improving the line's cutting power.

Operational efficiency

Over the years, the planting window in regions of Brazil has been decreasing due to some factors, including climate and even new seed genetics. In this way, the time needed to carry out seeding consequently becomes shorter, making alternatives necessary to improve the operational capacity of the machines, such as increasing the working width or, even, efficiency during operation.

The Momentum Planter offers both alternatives, both greater working widths, as this family of planters has 18 to 40 seeding lines (especially 0,45m), and greater operational efficiency, as the machine has technologies that allow Optimize working time, meaning you have more hours worked during the day.

One of the technologies present is the absence of the need for daily lubrication of the machine. This allows the machine to work more area in one day and, consequently, be able to sow more area at the end of the planting season, due to the time that is “saved” with the need for lubrication, which can present a gain of at least one work time.

Due to its system, it allows the machine to be ready for work in 45 seconds and ready to transport in 45 seconds

The transportability of the machine makes it easy to change areas. Due to its system, it allows the machine to be ready for work in 45 seconds and, in 45 seconds, ready to transport, with a total width of 3,6 meters, with all the action of the machine being carried out by the operator, from inside the cabin, and with a simple touch of the screen.

For more distant areas, when the use of road transport is necessary, the machine does not need an escort, as it can reach a total width of 3,2 meters, with a few simple adjustments, such as: removing the cutting discs, changing the position of the furrower, removing the springs of some lines and locking the pantographs, making the machine ready for this transport condition in a short time.

Another important point to be highlighted, thinking about time optimization, are the planter's central reservoirs, both for fertilizer and seeds, which are led to the line through positive pressure. These reservoirs offer agility and simplicity for filling due to their positioning and also have two reservoirs of 3.500 liters each, for seeds and fertilizer, making the machine's autonomy high, reducing the number of stops.

Efficient use of inputs

Over the years, the cost of inputs needed to establish a crop has increased, especially those related to the sowing operation, as the technology implemented in seeds is increasing, so that it is possible to achieve high levels of productivity . Therefore, it is increasingly important to manage these resources, that is, how this is applied in the area in question, seeking to explore as much as possible and, even so, only use what is necessary.

In consideration of this, the Momentum Planter family has the entire Precision Planting system, which is made up of the following components: vSet2, vDrive, vApply Granular and 20|20. They are responsible for total control of the inputs that “pass” through the planter.

The vSet2 is the most precise pneumatic doser on the market, offering simplicity when adjusting and durability over the years. It also has a seed singulator, ensuring uniform distribution, with singulation above 99% in corn crops and 96% in soybean crops.

The vDrive electric motor is an electronic row-by-row population controller, eliminating axles, hydraulic motors, gears and chains from the planter. It has line-to-row disconnection, reducing seed costs and productivity losses (competition between plants), as it prevents transfer into areas already sown. The planter will perform curve compensation, which means that, when working in this condition, the angular speeds of the dosing discs differ, which will correspond to the distances covered.

The exclusive vApply Granular technology is represented by the rotors responsible for dosing the fertilizer, because they are driven by hydraulic motors and control two fertilizer sections throughout the machine, avoiding fertilizer overlap in areas where it has already been applied. This technology allows working with variable fertilizer rates, with prescription maps, thus improving the management of applied resources.

Responsible for controlling these components is the 20|20 monitor, a versatile and intuitive monitoring and control system. This, in turn, features a friendly layout for easy reading and navigation between screens, and all information is in real time through high definition graphics and maps, making decision making during operation easier and faster. Furthermore, it is possible to extract work maps to manage the areas worked.
