Fascinate BR herbicide in the current agricultural scenario

Problems with weed resistance to herbicides are due to the fact that the use of active ingredients was not planned

The current agricultural scenario faces several challenges to be overcome when we think about herbicides for large crops. The main problem is the growing number of weeds resistant to one or more mechanisms of action on the same plant and, lately, the imminent risk of banning the use of the main molecules used for cultural management.

Weeds resistant to the mechanisms of action of herbicides have increased due to the successive use of the same mechanism, resulting in genetic selection of resistant individuals. An example of this was what happened with soybean cultivation, in the 90s and early 2000s, we only had reports of two resistant weeds (Picão Preto – Bidens pilosa and Leiteiro or Amendoim Bravo – Euphorbia heterophylla) to herbicides inhibitors. ALS.

With the entry of RR technology into the production system, the use of just one asset began, Glyphosate, to control such weeds in pre- and post-emergence, this system worked perfectly for a few years.

With this massive use, the scenario became worse for the farmer and the number of resistant weeds increased, as well as those resistant to Glyphosate: Horseweed (Conyza bonariensis, C.canadian and C. sumatrensis) and Bittergrass (Digitaria insularis) by almost all producing regions of Brazil, Capim Pé de Galinha (Eleusine indica), Azevem (Lolium multiflorum) and Caruru Palmeri (Amaranthus palmeri) in specific regions of Brazil.

More recently, we had the communication of weed resistance in biotypes of Horseweed, in the state of Paraná in the 2017 harvest. These populations of Horseweed have multiple resistance to the active ingredients Glyphosate, 2,4D and Paraquat, which began to be widely used in the control of this weed after the occurrence of resistance to glyphosate.

We are experiencing all these problems of weed resistance to herbicides, as the use of active ingredients was not planned, that is, we did not think about resistance management with the use of rotation of active ingredients, so that longevity could be achieved. to all technologies.

To control Horseweed resistant to other desiccant herbicides, Fascinate BR is an excellent tool, as there are no reports of resistance of these plants to Glufosinate and, as a result, we have achieved excellent performance in controlling these weeds.

Fascinate BR if used following the technical recommendations of good agricultural practices, which involves resistance management, performing a rotation of herbicide action mechanisms, applying only once in the crop cycle and avoiding application to clumped or perennialized plants and Therefore, by placing Fascinate BR in the second application of desiccation, we will reduce the chances of cases of resistance to the product occurring.

To guarantee the success of the application with Fascinate BR, the application must occur under conditions in which the plant is physiologically active and vegetating, also paying attention to avoiding periods of drought, application times, avoiding the hottest hours and lower relative humidity. to 60%.

Fascinate BR is registered for early harvesting for beans and soybean crops, one of the great benefits being a lower occurrence of interference in the physiological quality of the seeds, when compared to other active ingredient products registered for this modality, thus being able to be used in seed fields effectively and safely.

Beans are a crop sensitive to herbicides in general and the anticipation of harvesting carried out with products registered for this modality can cause the occurrence of undesirable stains on the grain and, therefore, reducing its quality, which consequently affects its price and its commercialization. However, with Fascinate BR applied at the recommended doses and at the correct stage, we do not have the marked occurrence of spots that other herbicides cause, reducing its quality.

Therefore, Fascinate BR is a very important tool for maintaining the productivity of the crops where it is used, also because we still do not have reports of resistance of weeds resistant to it in Brazil, excellent control of Horseweed resistant to other herbicides and the safety that provides in anticipation of harvest.

But for this to be maintained, we must take all the precautions mentioned, such as: not applying to perennialized or clumped weeds, applying when the herbs are physiologically active, applying only once during the crop cycle and always respecting the premises for spraying. .
