Kuhn's New Stronger HD Sprayer Comes with 40-Meter Booms

With spray booms of up to 40 meters in structural aluminum and stainless steel tanks of 3.200 and 4.000 liters, the Stronger HD offers daily operational yield of up to 100ha/hour

Kuhn, which celebrated its 190th anniversary in 2018, launched its newest line of self-propelled sprayers, the Stronger HD. In addition to the intelligent electronic transmission system and spray bars up to 40 meters wide, the line has an exclusive stainless steel pesticide tank, a trend for the Brazilian market.

STAINLESS STEEL TANK

The Stronger HD line offers two versions of stainless steel tanks: 3.200 and 4.000 liters, to solve an important issue in agricultural pesticide applications, which is adequate tank cleaning. The cylindrical shape and surface finish of the tank walls ensure ease of cleaning, completely eliminating any chemical residue. In addition to being easy to clean, stainless steel offers a tank with greater durability and resistance compared to other materials.

It has a clean water tank and an internal tank cleaning system using two rotating dispersers, with an agitation system consisting of four hydraulic agitators with an agitation capacity of 840L/min.

BARS

The Stronger HD line has bars measuring 30, 36 and 40 meters, to ensure speed and agility in applications. The 30 meter bars are made of carbon steel and the 36 and 40 meter bars were developed in structural aluminum, which provides high resistance to shocks and corrosion. Aluminum bars, as they are lighter, reduce problems related to soil compaction and reduce fuel consumption. With 40 meter bars there is a 25% reduction in crushing compared to a 30 meter bar, in addition to an increase in daily operational yield – up to 100ha/hour –, allowing pesticides to be applied in the best weather conditions.

EQUILIBRA SYSTEM

The sprayer also has the Kuhn Equilibra system, which provides self-leveling of the spray bars developed exclusively for the self-propelled line, which provides better stability of the bars even at high speeds, ensuring application uniformity. The system is also made up of accumulators precisely calibrated to minimize impacts on the bars.

SPRAY CIRCUIT

The spray circuit of the new Stronger HD line was designed to work at high and low flow rates, as the suction and drain lines offer low pressure loss throughout the circuit, allowing the centrifugal pump to obtain the maximum of its potential. flow, which is approximately 350L/min. All three bar models have nine sections and are fed by special polymer tubes that are highly resistant to chemical attack. Each section is equipped with the exclusive END CAP system, which automatically removes internal air from the tubes, increasing the opening responses of the sections by 85%, generating savings and avoiding unwanted overlaps. The Stronger HD line has a free span of 1,80 meters and a spray bar with a maximum application height of 2,70 meters, important features for spraying tall crops, such as corn.

ENGINE and TRANSMISSION

The Stronger HD line is equipped with MWM 7.2 liter turbo intercooled electronic engines with 260 hp for the 3.200 liter models and 280 hp for the 4.000 liter models, all complying with MAR-1 legislation, without the need for the use of additional fluids, such as Arla. The engines have high durability and performance, with lower fuel consumption and lower maintenance costs throughout their useful life.

The system is managed electronically and, in the event of overloads, for example, on heavier soil or steeper terrain, it activates the Diesel Boost system, developed exclusively for the Stronger HD. Diesel Boost is a power reserve that comes into action immediately in the event of overloads, making the engine react quickly.

The 4x4 hydrostatic transmission consists of a pump and four electronically controlled wheel motors in conjunction with the diesel engine. At every moment, the electronic system manages the traction and slippage of each wheel, knowing what each one needs at that moment, acting directly on the pump and hydraulic motors, at the same time as the diesel engine automatically regulates the rotation, positioning itself at the best point on the torque x consumption curve.

The Stronger HD does not have defined gears, but rather factory-predetermined spraying and transport speeds, which can be managed by the machine owner in cases where they want to determine the maximum speeds at which the operator should spray and transport the equipment. There are four speeds for each mode, spraying and transport, with the maximum spraying speed of 35km/h and the maximum transport speed of 50km/h, improving the efficiency, performance and useful life of the equipment components.

CABINS

The cabin of this series offers a high standard of finishing and comfort, seeking to provide the operator with the best possible ergonomics through the arrangement of internal equipment. The viewing area increased by the extension of the front glass allows for broad visibility when applying. The pressurization system and the double-sealed door guarantee greater protection and acoustic insulation.

To provide agility and facilitate the supply of pesticides, the Stronger HD has automatic hydraulic activation of the product mixer and the front ladder.

PRECISION AGRICULTURE

All models in the Stronger HD line come equipped as standard with the new Trimble TMX 2050 virtual terminal with a 12.1-inch high-resolution touchscreen that allows the operator to better monitor the work. As it is an Isobus terminal, all monitoring of the vehicle system is viewed in this same terminal, with no need to include a second terminal, making it easier for the operator to manage the work and reducing visual pollution in the cabin.

As standard items, the Stronger is equipped with a hydraulic autopilot and automatic cutting of nine sections, automatic headboard maneuvering and remote technical support, where it is possible to connect the terminal with the office and resolve any problem related to the terminal.

As optional items, Kuhn offers the RTX and RTK navigation system that allows application accuracies of up to 4cm.

FRONT REFUELING SYSTEM

The refueling system is frontal and offers better accessibility and ease of filling the spray tank, as well as shorter time to return to work thanks to the refueling pump with a capacity of 1.100L/minute.
